Mounting his skinny steed, Don Quixote charges an army of giants. It is his duty to vanquish these behemoths in the name of his beloved lady, Dulcinea. There’s only one problem: the giants are merely windmills. What is it about this tale of the clumsy yet valiant knight that makes it so beloved? Ilan Stavans investigates.

"War and Peace." A tome. A slog. The sort of book you shouldn’t read in bed because if you fall asleep it could give you a concussion. Right? Only partly. "War and Peace" is a long book, sure, but it’s also a thrilling examination of history populated with some of the deepest, most realistic characters you’ll find anywhere. Brendan Pelsue shares everything you need to know to read this classic book.

BOOK OF THE DAY : WORDS FROM MY WINDOW - RUSKIN BOND

"My window opens to the elements- to the night air, to the day breeze, to moonlight, to mist or sunshine, to birds and insects, to the rhythm of the seasons. Little clouds enter my window. I let them in. They are soft, caressing. They come in at the window and slip out from the front door, silent and discreet."

The book is like a reader's window to the world of Ruskin Bond. Through this window, we can see the amazing quotes from various books written by our beloved author throughout the years.

It is kind of a journal. Small enteries from various parts of the life of ruskin Bond are made alive by Dan Williams's amazing illustrations. There are no page numbers and no chronological sequence to the quotes. A lot of empty ruled lines are there in between various pages. These empty lines appeared to me as Ruskin sir's wish to create a writer out of the reader of his book.

You can't rush through these quotes. Every word demands a good time of the reader to come out of the spell of these magical words and move on to the next page. I spent a lot of time just staring at the drawings and finding the world of Ruskin Bond in these.

This book is a precious gem of a treasure. I can spend hours just staring at the pictures and floating on the sea of the magical words. It is a book to keep at the side of your pillow. Start the day with a quote and end your day with another. I love it.

Grateful thanks to
