I am a small-town native but have spent a good time in metro cities too. What Mr Bond wants to convey through the above-quoted lines, I have experienced it very clearly. There are worlds upon worlds within a small town. Small towns are soulful. No one is in a hurry to rush for the competition and for earning the high-end survival means. Life is simple in small towns are people are usually contented with the meagre lifestyle. And when Mr Bond talks about a small hill town, the level of contentment is very easily acquired. Small towns have liveliness in them and Mr Bond's words bring forth that liveliness like magic. It is always a delight to read his stories.
This book is a compilation of twenty-one very delightful stories, most of which have already made their appearance in different anthologies. But the idea here is to bring together the gist and soul of a small town, and all the stories make that point a great success. No doubt, Mr Bond's storytelling is unmatched. You get to experience the lives of some vibrant characters. Besides experiencing these lively stories, we get to hold a book with a very beautiful cover.
