How To-12: "How to Create a Library in Your Home"

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Are you a preteen or teenager that enjoys reading or loves books? Have you ever thought about creating a little library for you and your family to enjoy? If so, read this article.

Steps

  1. Tell your family about your plan. Give them a list of rules for your library. You can have any price for late fees, but be reasonable. Most of all, be creative, and don't forget to make library cards!
  2. Find a room in your house for the library. You need your own space for your library to put your books and a few seats for your visitors at your library. If your family has a spare room in the house, that’s a good place to have it.
  3. Get lots of books or enough so your family has a good selection. If you love books, you probably already have a lot, but if you don’t have enough books, you can go buy them at a garage sell or any store. Make sure the books are not torn up; make sure they’re good quality and decent looking.
  4. Create seating arrangements. When your family comes to your library they want to have a nice, quiet, and comfortable place to read. You can have comfortable chairs to sit in and you could possibly have a small table.

Tips

  • Having books for all ages is a wonderful idea, if you have a younger sibling, they may enjoy picture books, or you could have some coloring supplies for them.
  • Having mints is a good idea to thank your family for visiting your library.

Warnings

  • Don't be a mean librarian, your family probably will not want to come if you do so.

  • paper and writing utensils
  • index cards (these can be used for library cards)
  • books
  • comfortable, clean, nice and quiet environment

  • a good and positive attitude towards your library
